What is tamanu oil?
Tamanu oil is extracted from the nut kernels of the Tamanu Tree. Its scientific name is Calophyllum inophyllum – an evergreen tree and a member of the Mangosteen Family.
Where does the best tamanu oil come from?
Tamanu trees prefer salty, sandy soil, & tends to grow profusely near the sea resulting in the best tamanu oil quality available today. The exotic Melanesian islands of Vanuatu are said to produce the best tamanu oil.
